How Coaching Works...

Originally, I introduced coaching as an added resource for my Professional Organizing clients. My ADHD clients needed more than a few hands on Professional Organizing sessions to maintain organization and internalize new habits. Clearing the clutter was just the first step and probably the easiest.

What was needed was ongoing support and accountability to take the systems and strategies we designed and discussed from being pipe dreams to reality.

I saw with regular coaching sessions, based on honesty, encouragement and accountability, we could reduce the negative side effects of ADHD. And integrate positive, productive habits, and systems into daily living. By focusing on strengths and passions and working towards specific goals, positive change was inevitable.

So how do I work, you ask?

I work one-on-one with you, usually by phone, in a collaborative partnership. Each coaching sessions last 45 minutes and typically we work once a week but I'm totally flexible; if you would prefer more, or less often, depending on your situation, that's fine - it's all about you.

I ask for a commitment of no less than 12 sessions to begin our partnership. (See my guarantee below…) Thereafter we can discuss what will work for you. Coaching is a process that builds over time - less than 12 sessions may not produce the positive results we both seek.

“A coach is your partner in achieving professional goals, your champion during a turnaround, your trainer in communication and life skills, your sounding board when making choices, your motivator when strong actions are called for, your unconditional support when you take a hit, your mentor in personal development, your wake-up call if you don’t hear your own, and most importantly: Your coach is your partner in living the life you know you’re ready for, personally and professionally,”

Step One: A Complimentary Coaching Call…

…you and I will have a Complimentary Coaching Call and 'informal chat'. I want to understand what's going on for you and why you want to be coached. Is it the right option for you and will I benefit you?

If I don't think I'm the best coach for you I will recommend an alternative for you to explore. And you also need to feel comfortable with me…

And this is an opportunity for you to interview me…and experience my coaching style. Explore what you expect to gain from our coaching. And most importantly feel that we 'click'...do you feel comfortable talking with me…can we work as a team?

We'll talk for as long as it takes for us both to make that determination. If we decide to become 'coaching allies' we will discuss costs and housekeeping issues, and book your Intake Session.

Step Two: Beginning The Process…

The "Intake Session" typically takes 2 to 2½ hours…"What!!, you say "sit still for that long and talk"!! You don't have to. If you don't already have one I suggest you get a head-set and feel free to roam about as we chat. Many of my clients find it helps them to concentrate better to be 'on the move'.

During this session we will explore in-depth your personal needs and goals. What is working for you and what is negatively impacting your life. And determine what we will focus on to bring success (whatever that means to you…) to your personal and/or professional life.

Some typical issues that come up are:

• getting started - maintaining momentum - and completing specific tasks
• organizing office space
• project planning
• time management and time assessment
• perfectionism and procrastination
• home organization and management
• personal and professional relationships
• prioritizing, analyzing & delegating

And equally important how does your particular ADHD negatively and positively affect your life, and the lives of those around you? What makes you tick? Do you know what your strengths are? Do you know what your preferred learning style is?
